changes

in the past couple of days i've thought long and hard about a lot of things, and this the conclusion that i've come to: things are changing, going to change, and need to change.

here are some of the issues i'm facing, at the moment:
- jetty
- money
- school (i hate it)
- not enough time with:
-- my family
- juggling:
-- school
-- work
-- coursework (busywork)
- school (i hate it)
- my room
- getting no sleep
- harriet

oh, and did i mention i hate school? right, i must have, but let me re-emphasize: i really, really, really hate it. it's not the fact that i'm in school, or going to school; not at all! i love school, and learning, and doing coursework and reading . . . or at least i used to. that was until i came here, to PLU. PLU has sucked the lifeblood out of my spirit toward school. it is killing me. i spent about 2.5 hours two nights ago just bawling my eyes out to my mum about everything. she told me, "mallory, you can't change everything at once. let's take it one step at a time. tomorrow we'll get some of the stuff in your room in boxes so it's out of sight until you can deal with it and then we'll look into online universities, okay?" it was very kind of her to sooth my tired heart, and i felt a little better but still went to bed exhausted.

the next day, however, i did get some things done in my room (which was a relief) and i am waiting to hear back what i can make my credits into as far as BA degrees go at the university of phoenix online. they don't have a degree in "journalism" because for that sort of degree you have to physically do internships and stuff and that isn't something that can be done online. they do have a degree in communication, though, and that's what i'll go for. i was really looking forward to having "journalism" on my degree, but at this point i just don't care anymore. besides, it's not like having a degree in "communication" will hold me back from the journalistic field, not at all.

that uni seems like it would be just right for me. it would allow me to (possibly) move into a full-time position at work (more about that later), get these classes done with quick and at my own schedule and set my own vacations. incredible. i'm already qualified for financial aid, which is awesome, all i need to do now is get it all going and started before pre-registration for fall comes around here at plu. (which happens on the 10-12th, ugh.)

one of my other main problems is i haven't been getting any sleep at night, really. i just lie awake for hours at night, until about 2/3 a.m. when i finally crash into a restless "sleep" where my eyes are shut but i'm not getting any rest whatsoever. i wake up every couple hours and then like clockwork, at 8 a.m. i think part of it is that my room is frigid. which weirds me out because i have a heater vent in my room, and if i have my door shut one would think that all the heat would just stay put. it doesn't, though. i don't know what the problem is but i know it's awful. plus i'm lonely, that's another part of it. mum and d say i look like i've lost a lot of weight and look tired a lot. well, i am tired a lot, but i haven't lost any more weight since i've been sick. (which then i lost about 17 pounds, just from that awful hybrid illness i had a few weeks back.) kimmi says i must have insomnia because all my "symptoms" point straight in the direction of such. i'm not convinced, i just know i can't sleep.

i've been enjoying life a little bit more in certain regards i'd rather not disclose at the moment, but i'm sure you'll all find out soon enough. that's nice. with God's help and Jennifer's gentle reminders i'm slowly, painfully learning to be more patient and just wait. it's so awfully impossible to be so, though. i just want to explode with excitement and hope! oh, please let it be soon!

because of school and the stupid hours i have to maintain for that; driving to, being on campus, being in class, etc., i've had to cut back a lot in my availability at work. to put it simply: it sucks. i feel like i'm just wasting my time here, and i'd much rather be doing something with my life. Apple allows me to do something, it's a wonderful job and i love it. i'd rather be there than here at this horrible place any hour of the day. there are lots of changes happening at work, most of which are good and i'm excited for, i just don't want to miss out on them due to school. which, if you recall, i loathe. (plus, money kind of comes in handy when you have bills to pay. just a little, right?)

harriet isn't helping my current situation, either. i recently upgraded her to leopard and ilife '09, but ever since i have nothing has been working. it's adding insult to injury, honestly. so far garage band, imovie, iphoto, photobooth and mail have all failed/had something wrong with them. it started with my iSight not working, then i fixed that. then my mic didn't work, then i sort of fixed that. now mail will not work period. it ate a whole huge and important email i was trying to send to d the other day, and it just won't work. i've tried updates, exploding it, reseting it, etc. but still nothing. now i'm going to have to do a partial system archive and re-install of just the mail portion of the os, ugh.

i'm super frustrated with school and work both for keeping me from my boy so often. i literally see him maybe once a week, sometimes it's once a week and a half. as of monday it's going to be impossibly hard to see him for the rest of this semester (month and a half) just because of our work schedules and my stupid school and all this damn coursework i have that i don't have time for in the first place. I HATE PLU.

i hate PLU. a lot of the professors are lovely, and i enjoy them, but i dislike most all of the students and i hate the university as a whole. it's just an overrated prep school that costs way too much money and only works if you don't. (don't work that is, a job and what-not.) also, if you don't live on campus, it's near impossible to go here. basically, it's completely wrong for me and i don't know how i ended up here. oh well, though. what's done is done, i'm going to be out of here soon, soon, soon and all will be better, i'm sure of it. it may take me just a little bit longer to get the degree done, but to get out of here it would be worth it.

i needed a vent, thank you all, if you listened.
i'm hoping to get a dog soon, someone to keep me company, ward off the shadows and dreams at night, and sleep on the foot of my bed to keep me warm.

after school i'm going to race home to drop harriet off at home and race off to catch d getting off work at three. i feel just like the old times when he would get off work at the firm and race to the mall to see me and spend time with me on my breaks. swoon.

"Santa, baby . . ."

My only concern at the moment is the Genii seeing Harriet's very, very filthy screen. It's one thing for family, friends, classmates and even professors to see a dirty laptop screen . . . but the Genii? They'll think I don't love her! It's the worst possible fate. (LULZ, I crack myself up.)

Hello, hello, hello.
I lied, I'm sorry. That last blog was most certainly NOT my last blog on this un-personalized site. But, what are ya gonna do, right?

At the moment I'm listening to a lovely rendition of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" as it fills up the mall's hallways and darts between the busy holiday shoppers as they rustle their bags and their conversations jumble together.

The mall is a strange place this time of year. All the pretty decorations are up, everywhere, though. So that's exiting!

Y'all might wonder what I'm doing just "blah-ing" around at the mall. Well, I've brought Harriet to the doctor, finally! I'm going to get her looked at by a Genius and hopefully (since her CD drive is bad) get her all fixed up. :] Random factoid: whilst checking on when my APP expires I discovered her real and actual birthday! Sept. 17, 2007. She's only a year old! :O

The only trouble with the mall's wi-fi is that it randomly disconnects. (Even though I'm leeching the Apple Store wi-fi.) It's a bugger. lulz.

I don't have a ton to say other than I recently had the opportunity of interviewing a very influential and pretty incredible professor at school who also happens to have had an influential and incredible life. I've written an article about him (which has since been pushed to February's issue) and I'll most likely let you all read it when it's polished and shining brilliantly.

More later,

Running: ouch, it hurts!

I ran on Tuesday for the first time in for ages. I walked half a block and jog/ran the other half. A dog followed me for a bit, but I told him off and he went to wander home. I warmed up before and cooled down afterward but ouch, now I'm achy.

That same day my sisters and I went out for a girl's day at the mall! I bought them new dresses (for the Vision Banquet) and some other frivolous things that made all of our hearts happy. Shopping with me is so much fun. I also took them by the new (and HUGE) Apple store. I finally broke down and bought a 1TB hard drive (hopefully the right one, as it was suggested by Mr. Video-man Ryan) and everyone knew we were sisters because apparently we look "a lot alike."

I think whatever has been taunting me for the past few weeks has caught up with me and I think it's partly because I let my body get all worn out with that run. It's like a blaring neon sign, "I'm down, come get me!" and I think it has. Unfortunate, but oh well. It'll go away soon, I don't have time to be sick so I'm pretending it's not real and I'm sure it will go away. 99% of any sickness is mental, you know. (That's not the real statistic, but it's something huge like that. Basically, almost all of any sickness is in your head.)

The new Apple store is phenomenal and it feels like we've been in there forever, now, but everything is also so new! I love it so much. The day we opened the doors (which are awesomely computer-high-techish) on Saturday, I ran into Kristina at H&M on break. That was tons of fun. It was good to see her again. She stopped by the store to say hello to me but I was still not back yet, so I missed her. But it was cool that she got to see the store and meet D. (D knew who she was but didn't let on. He is hilarity.)

Summer is coming up and so is the next NW YouTube gathering. (I'm bringing D, this year.) It's going to be so incredible! The number of people who are saying they're going to be there is so epic. I'm stoked.

Speaking of summer, I have some good news and some bad news regarding the next two semesters of school. In January (J-Term) I will be taking an 8-10.50 a.m. class every day of the week for the whole month. It's going to be crazy and I am seriously (and almost surely) going to be moving in with Lexi for that month. (Aren't they sweet to even allow me to?!) Then come spring semester, things are going to get ugly. I will have so much school! I discovered the other day, while attempting to plan an availability sheet for work for spring, that I signed up for all 01-(first semester) classes. Oh noes! The reason this is good is that I will be done by May 15, which is almost two months earlier than everyone else and I'll be able to work a whole lot more (again) starting sooner than I originally thought. The reason this is bad is that I am taking six classes, all 01-semester classes. That means that seventeen course hours are going to be crammed into a much, much shorter time period and that the work load is going to be much, much greater than I originally thought. (And I originally thought that it was going to be massively heavy. I was right. Now just multiply that times 2.5, at least.) I will make it through, never-the-less. Just know that if you don't see me EVER (not that you do now) then you will see me even less than never. Poo on toast.

God has hugenormously blessed me in my young life. Lexi and I had an good little talk today about our lifetime and all the things that God is starting to do. We were talking about how we really and honestly feel like things are starting to wrap up and that things probably will within our lifetimes. It makes me so excited. I absolutely love talking to her about things like that. God is so good to His people to allow them to carry out His massive (and awesome) plans on this earth. I am so honored and proud to call myself a child and servant of God. He has got some mind-boggling things planned, let me tell you. I cannot WAIT to be a part of them and continue to help make His name famous in all the earth. :D

LOLcats make me smile. I'm so glad I have the widget. If I ever have a bad day or just need a little giggle it's just pop up the good ol' F12 (yes, I haz Tiger, for all you Mac nerds like me) and there is a smiling, ridiculous LOLcat to provide it. <3

12 November, 2008

My feet are up on the couch I'm sitting on in the library. They're wet and I feel like a rudey.

Mrs. C apparently thinks I don't eat.
I left my bag at church on Sunday and Lexi took it home for me. This is how it came back. Packed with all of this:

Oh well, what am I gonna do, yanno? I now have a hugenormous stash of snacks in the back of my car for any time I may suffer a fit of hunger while I'm on the road. Fantastic.

This is my sister Kimmi.
She is cute.
That is our kitty Trixie.
She is not so cute.
Kimmi stole my Frappuccino.
I let her.

Work, school and course-work have completely overtaken my life. I have no words to express the amount of time I spend either at work, at school or at home doing course-work. I have no words to express this because I have no time to formulate the words and thus any form of expression. I am also wasting valuable seconds here, now, telling you why I can't express such things when I could be expressing them. Welcome to my life.

Let me section this off. I will take you section by section through the topics I deem important at this very moment and you can come along for the essay-like ride or hop off whenever you choose. I won't (and can't) make you stay any longer than you so desire. Here goes . . .

Last Saturday night I had the pleasure of attending a performance at Key Arena with my dear friend Demitrios and his lovely family. It wasn't just any performance, however; it was the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. omw. They are so fantastic. I have heard some of their music throughout my life. On the radio, in random places, but never in person. It is so different in person. They have lights and all these crazy things going on in the middle of their shows! It adds a completely mentally awesome dimension to the music they perform.

John and Hank Green were in Seattle two weeks ago. I didn't get to see them because I had to work. I thought Kimmi wasn't going to get to either (because I'm a jerk and had to work) but D took Becca, Greg and Kimmi and they all had a blast. Kimmi got my article about ecogeek signed by Hank for me as well as "Alaska," "Paper Towns" and "Katherines" (which D bought for me there) signed by John. I felt like I was there, even if I wasn't. While I was at work that day I had the pleasant surprise of Adam, Nickita (can't spell, sorry!) and Jacob dropping in on their way through to see the Greens. I gave Adam a business card and told him they came at thr wrong time because we are* the smallest Apple store in existance and we were* moving in 2 weeks and he should come back then. (*are and were are, in this present moment, meant to be reversed since when he visited we were going to move and as of Monday we are moving. More coming about that next.)

"Next": We are currently (and finally) moving the Apple store. Moving out of the mini-store and into a bigger one, across the hall. HECK YES. (If you live in the area I expect to see you front-and-center on Saturday, November 15 at 10 a.m. for our opening. I'm serious. No jokes. Be there.) Basically we're all super-stoked. It's super incredible. Come visit. It is going to be so jokes.

In week two (about) of me working at Apple I sold an iPod to David Ross. That was nifty and one of my coolest Apple moments thus far. Just randomly felt like sharing since my journal is hecka out of date. :p

I need to go eat food.
(Back! I ate with Lex, for once. Hallelujah!)

I can't really think of anything else I want to say horribly much. I have two papers I need to write, now. Five pages for one and I need to add five pages to the other. One by 4 p.m. today and the other by tomorrow. Oh, the joys of being in college. Registration for the next two semesters is coming up on Friday. I have to take a J-Term class. Basically what J-Term is, is January. That means three months of classes crammed into one. Essentially the classes are held every day (depenhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifding) and have a running time of anywhere from 3-4 hours. It's going to be lamezors.

I'm addicted to these songs, at the moment: "Come On Get Higher" by Nate Nathanson, "Alice" by Pogo and "Still Alive" from Portal. (HA! No, I don't know anything about the game.)

I guess that is life!
I'll write more soon. Sorry for the recent neglect.
ily.

p.s. I'm almost done writing in this blog. Soon I'll be moving all the way over to www.malarayofsunshine.com , YEY!

Dear Spill Canvas:

"One more time, again" are identically the same phrase.
Stop writing stupidly, you make me mental.

Daisy is acting as a foot-warmer for me at the moment. She's lying at the end of my bed and since I have my window open for the crisp smell and feel of the rain (not to mention the sound) she's really being polite to let me rest my stinky feet on her.

Today was my last day at Apple Core training, I can't wait to finish my training over the next 3 or so days (when I'm in) and get going after that. I already love it.
I work for Apple.
-beam-

I lost all the interesting things I had to say, by now.

OH!
I'm sorry if I say "I love you" too much.
I'm me, and I have a LOT of love.
A lot of love for lots of different people in different capacities and degrees of the word.
Sometimes I worry that people think I don't mean it when I say it anymore.
That is so far from the truth you couldn't even see it with a super-sonic telescope.

Also, I wish the iPhone was available on Verizon.
I need to be able to call/text my fam unlimited but I SUPER want an iPhone.
Dilemma/broken heart.

Radio tomorrow.
Gonna sleep.

A Day In Parts and Many Random Thoughts

So, I'm at the hotel where we're having training.
It's 7.52 a.m.
I'm early.
An hour and 8 minutes early.
Better than being late, though!

You know, I don't really love city driving.
I think as far as I came was as far as I'd ever like to drive into the city.
(And I didn't drive very far in, :P)
But I love being here!
(In the city, that is.)
The sun was just up enough to be a bright, orange ball of blindingness on my right part of the way then when I got closer to the city I realized it hadn't made it up high enough to be a reflector on the city-scape yet.
So lovely.
I pray that I never get to a point where I underestimate or under-appreciate the Seattle skyline.
I am spoiled.

I was reading up on my blogs the other day. (Literally yesterday.)
Adam's, to be more specific, and in his most recent (as of then) blog entry mentioned my dear sister and I.
It was kind of amusing because apparently he thinks we write amusingly, or something which is ironic because...
I WAS JUST THINKING THAT ABOUT HIS BLOG WHEN I READ WHAT HE HAD TO SAY ABOUT KIMMI AND I.
Weird.
(Sorry, caps can be fun. I need moderation.)
Anyhow,
that dear boy makes me smile.
His instinctive use of the English language and precise use of grammar makes my heart soar.
Both he and Kimmi (and all people who are younger than I) who write like that make me proud.
Not many people write like them, these days.
Adam is going to be such an amazing writer.
(Because I know, of course, that's what he's going to do with the rest of his life. NO. I don't. But I can guess and have my fun, can't I? KTHX.)

I'm writing now in the style that most of my blog entries have been written in in the past, but I think now that more people read my blog now versus then anddddd I'm pretty sure people are going to assume I'm ripping off Kimmi's style.
I'm not.
I promise.
In fact, would you like to hear an amusing story?
When Kimmi first got her blog I read her first and second entries and whilst I did so, all the while, I was thinking, "Wait, did I write this?!"
Go figure, yet another thing that we're freakishly the same in.
Speaking of which, if you don't read her blog: GO NOW.
My sister can write.
(By the way, Kimmi: we've successfully written songs together and we successfully write music, fiction and stuff separately, why haven't we taken to fiction literature yet?)

So, I've noticed that some of all y'all are new to the blogging community.
Having come fresh out of the vlogging world and coming to blogging as a part-time lover and full-time friend.
As I was pondering this, and soulfully taking a peek into the depths of my own heart and past, I discovered (and was reminded of) the fact that I am a total blogger at my very innermost core.
I LOVE VLOGGING.
But I'm a blogger.
I think that must be why I'm more a vlogger than just a "video YouTuber."
Like, if I had to categorize myself on YouTube I'd obviously be a vlogger.

I've been blogging since 2005(ish).
That's a long time.
(Does this actually make me a veteran of something? Kind of? Maybe? Hmm.)
It all goes back to the beginning of my life and my love for the written word.
I've always loved the challenge of words and their expressive thrill.
Okay, I'll admit it, words turn me on.
I blame the fact that my mother was reading to me before I was even done cooking.
Not very many mum's are cool enough to read to their unborn children.
Mine was.
I will be.
You should be too.
It breeds intelligence.
(Or at the very least it breeds thinkers.)

Adam mentioned (there is a lot of Adam in this post. I hope you don't mind, dear) in one of his first blog entries that he had been writing since he was a small boy of 6.
(On the computer, no less. I have a new-found sense of admiration for you, Adam. All that I knew was on the computer when I was 6 was ... oh, poo. Silly programs that ran on Windows '95, like Magic School Bus and The Island of Doctor Brain.)

ANYWAY: This made me chuckle.
Of course Adam would have been writing when he was 6!
(A Pokemon fanfic would not have been my first guess, though why not I have no idea. DOI.)
It made me think; I've been writing about that long as well, and I just realized!
WEIRD.
My mum (when I was younger) would help me translate all my stories to go with my pictures.
(I never did anything half-way. There were always pictures to go with the stories.)
Now, those of you who know me know that drawing is not one of my strong points.
This was a constant frustration because I so wanted to be good at drawing like my brother was!
His stories always had such lovely pictures to go with them.
Detailed and, come to think of it, the pictures were most of the story.
I was the opposite and I wanted to be like him.
(This has become way more introverted than I had planned. See what happens when you put a blank page in front of me? Sha-banga–OOPS. Bahaha.)
Someday maybe I'll make a video and show you all "Flower the Penguin" and her exciting little life.
Either way, I'm fine being me, by now.
(Though he still has more drawing skill than I when it comes to such endeavors.)

The time is now 8.28 a.m.
(When you read that, please read it like a robotic alarm clock and do so out loud. You won't regret it, it is SO fulfilling.)
I'm off to learn how to be a proper Apple concierge, now.
9-6 is a very long day.
Both today and tomorrow will be like this.
I'm really not a morning person.
Mleah.

-----

Guess who came back?
OMG, no wai!1!! me?!
Yeah, it's half 12 now.
We're breaking for lunch and I am not going to go scrounging around out in the wilderness that is the city when I'm not even hungry as it is so I'm not eating.
For those of you who constantly nag me about my eating habits: YES, I ate breakfast.
And for those of you who aren't used to my eating habits: I usually eat breakfast and have a couple snacks throughout the day. (i.e. fruit, crackers, Capn' Crunch, cheese, toast with jam, granola bar, etc.)
I'm not dying.
I'm not usually hungry.
I don't usually eat.
Why am I telling you this?
You don't care.
And I don't care what you think of my eating habits.
In case you later feel like hating and/or nagging:
I'm obviously not anorexic, a food hater or overly obese.

I have two observations to share, now.
One: hotel bathrooms are always eerily quiet. And when there is a noise it echos profusely.
Two: city hotel(/airport) parking garages are always eerily quiet. And when there is a noise it doesn't seem to go anywhere.
I say city parking garages because most city parking garages are underneath their respective mass of building and thus, no echo.
OOO, there's a bit of science for you: in the ground, under cement buildings surrounded by cement and dirt, there is no echo.
(Which is actually a lie because doors kind of sort of echo when slammed.
But that takes immense six-year-old "mommy, listen to this!" little boy strength to accomplish.)
(Actually, that's sort of a lie as well. It's really just more of a dull echo. It feels like it goes no where and just sort of falls in the air taking up space but never moving forward.)

You know, sitting here in my car in the parking garage after all sorts of "what people see first when they walk into a place" talk, kind of makes me wonder why more companies/hotels don't put more effort into their parking garages.
Sure, when you walk INTO the building you get a certain welcome.
(The one they hope you'll remember.)
But what about poshifying parking garages?
A little Garage Decor never hurt anyone, am I right?
They could get calming colour schemes of blues and greens.
Put in drinking fountains.
Soft easy chairs?
Leather couches?
A Wii and gaming area?
Maybe not all that, but at least colour schemes and maybe some curtains tucked off to the side of some discretely placed HD television screens that portray a 3D outside/window simulation.
That would be cool.
You know that would be cool.
TLC should get on that.
New reality "flip" show, anyone?

One more note on hotel bathrooms: I'm always relieved (no pun intended) to find that they're almost always empty.
Which is sometimes creepy.
But usually just nice.
I mean how awkward does it get sitting in a stall and having someone else come in at the same time as you and then peeing simultaneously?
Don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about, I know you do.
(I have a confession, I actually had this thought when I was IN the bathroom and told myself: "Okay, now promise me you won't use that pun because it was unintended when you thought it but it won't be when you type it." And then proceeded to use it anyway. Oh, me.)

There's a guy (whose name I can't spell, sorry, "guy") here who has a shirt that says this: "Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Pwn Age."
It has the typical picture 'til you get to the "Pwn Age"!
Then it's a Halo dood.
It made me excited.
I want one.

Speaking of clothing; it kind of weirds me out when guys have smaller thighs than I do.
I've actually met/know quite a few.
It's mainly because fat doesn't accumulate in quite the same fashion in the thigh area on men as it does women. Still, it kind of weirds me out.

-----

I start at Apple on Tuesday.
I am SO EXCITED.
I'm a concierge (did I already say so? I forget.)
Either way that's what I am.
I welcome, greet and do all the littleeeee things to help customers.
It's gonna be so brill.
I work for Apple.
: D

I was on the way home and turned on the radio for the last bit and there were 5 golden songs on in a row.
How often does that happen?
Two, much less five?!
Here they are: "I Want You To Want Me," "How To Save A Life," "I Like The Nightlife Baby," "Come On Get Higher" and that one that goes "I do it all/it's all for love, love, love..." but I can't figure out what it's called or who it's by for the life of me.
GAG.
(If you know, tell me?)
"Come On Get Higher" by Matt Nathanson is my new addiction.
ADDICTION.

Trixie Spike Speical

I love my sisters.

Since I posted last I got the internship at the radio station at uni, so that's awesome. I have an interview with Apple tomorrow as well. Life is going superrrr well. :]

This weekend me and the fam went and saw "Get Smart." Twice. It was high-larious. Steve Carell is so amazing. I completely am in love with him.

I've been hopping up on not only "Gilmore Girls" this past week but also catching up on my episodes of "Doctor Who." (Bout time, don't you think?)

Kimmi and I have officially jumped onto the Trock bandwagon. The Noble Sisters. That's us! We'll have more content/songs up really soon. Add us? :] (Original video, by Alex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PyV9N3fR7U) So exciting! More updates on that next time.

The podcast really will be up on SincerelySunshine.
So will a new video.

Some cool stuff in the works with Meghan, Zack and Rache. I'm SUPER stoked.

We also got a new kitten! Trixie Spike Speical (in joke, there, I didn't spell "special" wrong.) Isn't she just the bee's knees?! Only trouble is she brought home fleas. :P

sometimes, i give my sister black eyes.*

I filmed all the footage I'll ever need and more for Vern's Intertwyne video, that should be edited soon.

We're (Kimmi, Vern, Becca and I) going in to the Apple store today after Vern's dentist appointment to get him a Mac. I'm mainly excited about this because, while I get to actually be a smart person and know things today, I am also getting myself a new mouse and FinalCut.

Oh my gosh, cloning here I come.

Before I go, here is a sneak peek at what's in store in this game video:

*No Kimmis were harmed in the making of this video.
p.s. This photo constitutes what makes up a VERY small part of the video, so if you're reading this, Clint; your video will be awesome, I promise.

Why don't you "MySpace" it to me?

Ha! I actually said that today. It made me laugh. "Yeah! I'll MySpace it to you!" I said. Wow. What a thing this world has come to. The funniest thing to me is that email has almost become irrelevant. What people do now is message each other on MySpace, Facebook, or they just text.

Which brings me to my other point of annoyance: chatspeak. Now, for those of you who might not be as nerdy as me, "chatspeak" is typing like this: "i luv u so much!" or "how r u?" etc., etc., etc. It's annoying, unnecessary, and sloppy. It is my biggest pet peeve ever. The public school system is lacking enough already, you don't need to help your own declination into stupidity with chatspeak and poor grammar.

Now, taking into consideration where the the whole "chatspeak" thing came up in the texting world (that's right, I didn't include the WWW, that's something different all together) was due to the character limits. Who really wants to send a text three characters over to a "not-your-network" person and get charged for an extra text with three extra characters in it? Not me. But also not the point. Sure sometimes I can see it, but I'm just asking, why? Why do we really have to type or text like that?

I'm sure you've heard all the stuff about the schools and the essays and yadda, yadda? Students are writing essays filled with chatspeak! How tacky and lame! Come ON you guys, we are SO much cooler/better/awesomer than that. Typing is really a lot faster if you dont't use chatspeak, to be perfectly honest.

On MySpace even Tom, good ol' Tom, uses poor grammar and the occasional chatspeak in his bulletins to the whole site. Why?! It's so aggravating, really. I mean, the shift key is right there. Learn to type, learn to spell, and learn how to use punctuation please for the love of all things literate!

Sure I'll slip in a "ily" here and there, but for goodness sakes not as a carved in stone habit. In this day and age we are surrounded by technology. People would rather blog than journal, text than call, and "MySpace message" than email. How funny we humans are. Do people even know what paper is anymore? Journals? Pens with ink in them? Crazy, crazy stuff. It makes me laugh, giggle, and on occasion, scoff. I'm sorry, I just can't help it. I mean, sure, technology has brought us so many amazing things: Apple Macs, iPods, cell phones, just to name a few, but why must we be so silly about how we use it? Why let our standards slip from one medium to the next? If you were writing a card to your great-grandma would you write: "Hi Gma, I luv u tonz. Hope u r good. Its sunny now, is it sunny there 2. Have fun w/all the stuff ur doing, write soon. Luv, ____"? I didn't think so! She wouldn't be able to read it, it's painful!

One last thing before I end this; their, they're, there. It's, its. Your, you're. Our, are. To, too, two. Learn the difference. You look really silly when you can't use these words correctly.

Okay, I'm all done for now. But if you have a moment, vote for Blake on "American Idol", he loves you, so why don't we all show him some love too?

Peace + LOVE,
Mallory

*Disclaimer*: Yes, the "letter" was spelled, punctuated, and chatspeak-i-fied on purpose, particularly the "its". It's a common error I spot. The end.
