The way forever works . . .


Is just exactally like in this book I read one time. To quote the amazing ending,
"We'd start slow, the way we always did, because the run, and the game, could go on for awhile. Maybe even forever.

That was the thing. You just never knew. Forever was so many different things. It was always changing, it what everything was really all about. It was twenty minutes, or a hundred years, or just this instant, or any instant I wished would last and last. But there was only one truth about forever that really mattered, and that was this: it was happening. Right then, as I ran with Wes into that bright sun, and every moment afterwards. Look, there. Now. Now. Now."

It inspired me, she's a great author, says words exactally how I can understand them.

But that's not the point.
The point is this, that forever is always changing. So how then can we promise anyone "forever"?

I would also argue this, how can we not?
If forever is always changing, then why can't we change along with it?
It's a weird phenomenon that people need the promise of forever, as elusive as it may be, it just might not be as unnatainable as we think . . .

I'm not completely sure, and I'm not completely sure I'll ever know. But that's okay with me, because as complicated as "forever" is, it's so simple.

Why?
Because forever only comes one day at a time.
