I love my cat

Isn't she just beautiful?
I think she's such a sweet little thing.

sometimes she's a little brat and she HATES getting her toenails clipped, but it has to be done!
in the morning she likes to snuggle up half on my pillow half on my chest.
she nestles in under my chin in the sweetest way and just sighs herself to sleep.

my sweet, sweet Sage.

poems from february

04 february, 2009
gunmetal
grey,
what did you say?
underground
way,
where do you stay?
flowers in
may,
all fun and play.

04 february, 2009
shiny lips,
social quips
never do me right;
ruffled sheets
and limousines
fall into my sight.
hold me
close and
let me stay,
'twined around your
toes.
where you start
and where i
stop,
what a grand unknown;
ruffled sheets,
abandoned clothes,
scattered on the
rug.

"Photography is truth."–Jean-Luc Godard

One of the many challenges of being a photographer, besides the obvious one of location and lighting, is finding the person on the other side of the lens.

It is one of my favourite things about photography. Whether it be a person, a place or an item, I love to try and figure out its story from the other side of my lens. That is what I feel is true photography. The discovery of life, people and stories.

It is one thing to photograph people. It is another to make others care about them by revealing the core of their humanness. –Paul Strand

Call me crazy. Oh, wait, I am. All that aside, however, I figured out how Zack gets all his photos to be so lovely through Flickr. It's fantastic. I'm very happy, at the moment.

I'm working a lot, in school a lot and happy a lot.

Side notes:
1) "Very" is not a word.
2) Student journalists: the first time you use an acronym in a story (no matter how "familiar" it seems) you ALWAYS SPELL IT OUT. kthxbai.
3) I know this is the Pacific Northwest. It rains here. Can you just learn to see the beauty in the rain as well as in the sun?

Ah, Autumn is so lovely. I am consistently being romanced by the leaves' perfume, wind's caress and rain's symphony.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I left a Eggo in the toaster and now it's sure to be chilly. I also have a speech tomorrow morning. Hm, we'll see how this goes.

Oh, deer!

deer are so sweet. i really love deer.

So, family camp was this last weekend – it was so great!
I spent most of my time with Lex just running around and generally being little kidd-ish with all the kiddos. (Basically I was in heaven.)

It was warm in the afternoons and even stayed warm in the tents at night. That was awesome!

There were these two deer that kept coming into the meadow to eat apples and clover. They let the kids get within 3 feet of them! It was crazy. People were obviously not new to them.

I've been doing not a whole lot as of late. I did get FinalCut, though. Just last week before my Mac went in to get fixed. (The casing was cracking a little on the inside.) So now I need to install and play! (I still need to install and start up with Aperture. Oh myyy.)

I have a need to finally get started on a photography series soon, here. I don't know of what yet, though. Blah.

I also love DeviantArt and spend way too much time just looking at and favouriting photos on it. (It's a sickness.) Can anyone tell me why lips are so captivating? I just loveee eyes and lips. (Fetish? Not quite. At least at the moment I choose to remain in denial. kthx.)

Oddizh or Mudkipz?
ODDIZH.

Life, is like a circle. A very squiggly and oddly drawn circle.

At least, that's what I've found so far.
There are a lot of reasons I say this and I'll get around to posting about them eventually. Maybe.

The Mystery Channel surprised me tonight.

My German homework isn't finished.

I wasted a whole holiday doing stuff.
Tomorrow is school again.
I don't want that.
Only 14 more days left. (I counted weekends in my last count. Whoops.)

I taught myself "Starman" from Mario and "The Ocarina of Time" theme from Zelda for the piano. I rule at life. (They will be in my next videooo. ;])

Wasn't tonight a beautiful night?

03 April, 2007

It's that time again . . .

Hello! It's been a very long time, hasn't it? Let me start by just doing a brief overview of Spring 2007's schedule, yayy!

Monday:
9a-12p Photography (<3)>Tuesday:
9am-12p MOPS
1-2:15p Astronomy
5:45-7:55p Nutrition (funn!)
do layout or articles depending on the week

Wednesday:
1-2:15p Astronomy
drop off sibs at 12p for A&P
do layout or articles depending on the week
AWANA 7p

Thursday:
1-2:15p Astronomy
5:45-7:55p Nutrition
do layout or articles depending on the week

Friday: no school . . . but layout day/article due day every other week.
plus the but-load of homework every stinkin class has . . . (GAG) Also! The dark-room is open from 9a-12p . . . with the teacher guy there, so I'ma prolly go! lol. Funn.

So that's that! I'm a busy girl, with lots of stuff left off. (Like always running my sibling around/being available 'cause my mum needs the help. Yeahhh, fun! Kinna.)

Not really anything much else in my life right now, should I tell you a bit about each class? That might be fun, let's try it!

Photography is amazing. I already love it, and my camera! I've so been longing to go back to traditional (and have never gotten the oppourtunity to work in a darkroom before, so exciting!) and I finally am! Our instructor is super, and amusing, I'm loving it already. (But waiting for it to come around again will be forever) there is quite a bit of work though they say, that's okay, I'm determined of course. =] Homework scale: 9/10

Astronomy is really a fun subject! But the instructor is a little droll. He re-uses jokes and says "so everybody on board with that?" every other sentence. Oh well, I'm looking forward to getting smart. Ha! Homework scale: 9/10

Nutrition SO HAPPY! The instructor is a vegetarian too! So cool, I'm really excited to learn all about food and how to make it work better for my body, yayy! Homework scale: 5/10

So I have kind have a lot of work to do, plus the paper still of course as well (and since I'm looking at applying for Cheif next year Sara, my editor, is letting me shadow her a bit more this quarter = more work. haha.) And I'm also auditioning for the quarter theatre production! Yayyy! It's like a radio show, with tons of callers and a different dialect for each character. (Fun!)

Mmmk, that's all for now?
Sureee.
Shout out to Rachel and S'ven, <3's to you!
Miss you both!
=]

Peace and LOVE,
Mallory
